SPARKLING SAND DOLLAR

Last week I posted my Floating Gallery Wall that was inspired by the sand dollars sent to me by Donna at Distressed Donna Down Home.  I saved just one of those sand dollars for another project.  I wish I had more because I love them.  I need to live near the beach.  In fact, I'm sure it is my destiny to eventually give coastal living a try.
Maybe I could kill two birds with one stone and have a cottage by the sea.  I always thought it would be awesome to live in a seaside cottage.  When I was a kid, one of my dreams was to live in a log cabin in the mountains by a stream.  Did it.  Loved it. Then I thought it would be fun to live in a little farmhouse in the country by a creek.  Did it.  Loved it.  Obviously, I'm a girl who feels like making dreams a reality is perfectly within my grasp.  Why not?
In the meantime, I'll continue dreaming about the coastal life in my beach themed master bedroom where I like to surround myself with sparkly, beachy, dreamy decor...like this bejeweled sand dollar.
When the sun catches it, it twinkles just enough.  Anything that sparkles or twinkles and does NOT involve glitter makes me smile.  Glitter makes me twitch.
Now I do realize that this project is nothing more than sticking on a few gems to a painted sand dollar and stringing it up with some beads and a meaningful charm.  I also realize that this is not an original idea.  You can find a ton of these used as wedding favors and Christmas ornaments on pinterest.  You can even buy yourself one on several etsy shops for around $30.00 plus shipping.  But I decided to just make one for myself....for free, because someone was nice enough to send me some sand dollars and I already had gems and beads.    Besides, I need to save my money for that little seaside cottage that I'm dreaming of.

  8. How pretty Danni. I love that you dream of things and then make them come true. Sounds like you'll have that beach cottage some day.

  9. I wish sand dollars washed up on our beaches but sadly not, maybe your destiny will take you to a beach cottage one day. If I win the lottery I'll buy that one near Carol (for the constant sunny weather and the sand dollars) unless you get there first !

  13. Ha ha ha Danni! I used to dream about living in the mountains by a stream...didn't do it. I dreamed about living in the country on an acreage...bought the land and sold it before building a house. I've always dreamed of living by the sea or a large body of water...had the opportunity and chickened out. So kudos to you for having the dreams and making them happen. I have no doubt that one day you'll be sitting on the porch of that cottage by the sea with your pretty bejeweled sand dollar hanging in the window. You Go Girl!!!

  14. You are such an inspiration, Danni. I've dreamed and still do of living on a farm, living in the mountains, and near the seaside (I'd settle for lakeside, even) But never did I think I could actually make it happen, yet you did. Whether you do or do not ever make it to the seaside cottage, your master is coming pretty darn close.

  15. Okay, I am totally giggling about the glitter making you twitch.... I think I am the same way! My son brought home a glitter snowman {craft project in Sunday School} and let's just say there was more glitter than snowman and it went *cough* into the..... *cough* trash can. Yes, I really did throw one of my son's projects away.

Anyway, I didn't come here to talk about glitter, I came to say that I love your sparkling sand dollar and it has the perfect amount of non-messy glitter! Thank you so much for sharing at Roses of Inspiration and thanks for sharing your other post as well. Enjoy the remainder of your week!

  19. Remember that when you are shopping online, there could be significant costs associated with shipping your item. Always take these costs into account when you are looking for your best price. One website may have a high price, but includes free shipping. The same item on another site may be priced lower, but by the time the shipping costs are added, it is more expensive than the first site. play bazaar
